And, Here's Rest Of Story ...
One could say, it’s a modern-day marriage of today’s multi-generation’s most popular pastimes, Bingo and Bowling, set amid black lights and strobes and swanky alleys, based on QuickShot, a multi-card game played with 24 pre-called numbers and a scalable pay table, that raises and lowers based on the player’s wager.
“It’s not just a new coat of paint,” according to John Mowat, project manager, who has put his spin and polish on the production from start to finish.
“It’s like incorporating a romantic comedy into a game. It’s new and different, but even more dramatic with a bonus layer, which gives the player the chance to feel like they’re actually bowling, followed by character development and next chapter of the story unfolding.”
And, to guarantee its popularity, the concept, developed by Video King’s team of engineers, was based on feedback from Bingo managers, distributors as well as players, by tapping into today’s most popular themes.
Playable On The CHAMP-e
Playable on the CHAMP-e™, Video King’s new, wireless gaming tablet, BowlaNanza is all part of QuickShot’s evolution, said Mowat, to build more excitement and attract a new league of younger players.
“Lineage is important in these projects,” he explained, as Video King progressed from single-card QuickShot games, like Hurricane™ and Buccaneer Bonanza™, to adding more cards, cartoon characters such as dancing aliens and astronauts, and increasing levels of animation, as in K9 Cash,™ QuickShot McDraw,™ Bing O’ Lucky™ and MoonShot.™
“We’re really excited about the whole process,” he said, playing a major role in the game’s evolution. Mermaid’s Quest™ and Potion Commotion,™ the previous generation, were Video King’s first chance to build in characters – whether they take you to a mysterious cave or ancient shipwreck, with the addition of free cards and their themed bonus rounds, much like slots.
Taking it to a whole other level, BowlaNanza, builds on the progression.
“It’s almost like watching a movie,” he said. “The big creative risk we’re taking is to try and reach a bigger audience by bringing in characters who aren’t just mascots on the side of the screen, but part of an actual storyline that the player unlocks.”
To preserve the suspense, we’ll “spare” the more specific details, but here’s basically how it all unfolds …
In this bowler girl meets bowler boy scenario, it begins much like any other QuickShot theme. Players select their cards and the denomination they want to play. As the numbers are called, the girl begins to bowl. As she rolls her ball down the lane, the animation, a giant bowling ball, sweeps across and marks the cards on screen, like a scoreboard, flanked across the top.
To cut to the chase, the story plays out over seven chapters – but with all good cliffhangers – one must wait. Each time the player earns a bonus round, it is then followed by the next part of the story.
Interactive Bonus Rounds!
But if story telling’s not exactly your bag, BowlaNanza is one game that definitely won’t lack or lag.
Players who prefer a more traditional experience, can turn off the storyline at any time – allowing them to get the most amount of play, while still getting the look and feel of the game.
Besides, there’re plenty of other innovations, like the free cards and interactive bonus rounds – to keep the excitement rolling – and bound to bowl you over!
